Supplier Code of Conduct

JBT Corporation and its subsidiaries (JBT) strive to conduct business in an ethical and honest manner, in compliance with applicable law, and expect our suppliers to do the same. This Supplier Code of Conduct sets forth the base principles that we expect JBT suppliers to follow during our business relationship. This Supplier Code of Conduct supplements, but does not supersede, any rights or obligations contained in the John Bean Technologies Corporation – General Purchase Order Terms and Conditions, or in any other agreement JBT may have with its suppliers.

Compliance with Law
JBT strives to comply with the applicable laws wherever we conduct business. We expect that suppliers to JBT will also conduct its business in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations when doing business with JBT.


Acting Ethically
JBT is committed to honest and ethical business practices in the operation of our business. We require that suppliers to JBT share this commitment. This means that we expect suppliers to JBT to conduct its business ethically, and to have controls in place to detect the misuse of company assets, corruption, bribery, improper gifts, extortion, and embezzlement. Suppliers to JBT should immediately report to JBT any unethical behavior by its employees, agents, or subcontractors in the performance of business with or for JBT.


Entertainment and Gifts
Although it is customary in many companies to entertain customers and to exchange gifts, such entertainment and gift exchanges can be interpreted as a conflict of interest. Please be advised that JBT’s employees and their immediate families may never accept gifts of cash or cash equivalents from suppliers to JBT, including gift certificates and gift cards, and that other gifts may need to be reported or returned pursuant to the code of conduct applicable to JBT.


Health and Safety

JBT is committed to conducting business in a safe manner, and we expect that suppliers to JBT will operate in a manner that complies with all applicable safety laws, regulations, and standards, and make continuous efforts to achieve a workplace that is free from work-related injuries and illnesses.

Worker potential for exposure to health and safety hazards (chemical, electrical and other energy sources, fire, vehicles, and fall hazards, etc.) are to be identified and assessed, mitigated using the Hierarchy of Controls (or other similar processes), which includes eliminating the hazard, substituting processes or materials, controlling through proper design, implementing engineering and administrative controls, preventative maintenance and safe work procedures (including lockout/tagout), and providing ongoing occupational health and safety training. Where hazards cannot be adequately controlled by these means, workers are to be provided with appropriate, well-maintained, personal protective equipment, and educational materials about risks to them associated with these hazards. Reasonable steps must also be taken to remove pregnant women and ‘nursing mothers from working conditions with high hazards, remove or reduce any workplace health and safety risks to pregnant women and nursing mothers, including those associated with their work assignments, and provide reasonable accommodations for nursing mothers.

Worker exposure to chemical, biological, and physical agents is to be identified, evaluated, and controlled according to the Hierarchy of Controls. If any potential hazards were identified, participants shall look for opportunities to eliminate and/or reduce the potential hazards. If elimination or reduction of the hazards is not feasible, potential hazards are to be controlled through proper design, engineering, and administrative controls. When hazards cannot be adequately controlled by such means, workers are to be provided with and use appropriate, well-maintained, personal protective equipment free of charge. Protective programs shall be ongoing and include educational materials about the risks associated with these hazards.

Production and other machinery shall be evaluated for safety hazards. Physical guards, interlocks, and barriers are to be provided and properly maintained where machinery presents an injury hazard to workers.


Human Rights and Forced Labor
JBT supports internationally recognized human rights, and we insist that suppliers to JBT uphold human rights in every jurisdiction in which they do business. JBT also expects that suppliers do not use any type of involuntary, child, or forced labor, including indentured, bonded, prison, slave, or human trafficked labor. All labor must be voluntary, and employees must be free to end their labor or their employment relationship at any time.  JBT’s Human Rights Policy can be accessed here. Wages and Benefits; Freedom of Association
Suppliers must have a system in place to verify and accurately record payroll, deductions and the hours worked by legally authorized employees. Suppliers must comply with all applicable wage and compensation requirements as defined under applicable labor laws for regular work, overtime, maximum hours, piece rates, and other elements of compensation and employee benefits. Suppliers must adhere to applicable laws regarding the right to affiliate with lawful organizations without interference.  All use of temporary, dispatched, and outsourced labor will be within the limits of the local law.


Nondiscrimination
Employment by Supplier shall be based solely on person’s ability and not personal characteristics. Supplier shall maintain a workplace free of unlawful discrimination, which includes, but is not limited to, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, pregnancy, caste, disability, union membership, ethnicity, religious belief or any other factors protected by applicable law. Employees shall not be subject to verbal, physical, sexual or psychological abuse or any other form of mental or physical coercion and shall be treated with respect and dignity.


Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility and Reporting
Suppliers are expected to align with JBT’s commitment to sustainability, encompassing the responsible management and care of the environment and natural resources, ethical business practices, and responsible resource management. This includes obtaining and maintaining all necessary environmental permits and adhering to their operational requirements. Suppliers should proactively minimize pollution, conserve natural resources, and manage hazardous materials with utmost care, including providing its employees with appropriate training on the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Additionally, implementing conservative water and energy management programs is essential to monitor, control, and conserve usage while striving to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reflecting our shared dedication to a sustainable future.

Suppliers are expected to cooperate with JBT on carbon reporting and environmental compliance, including setting and reporting on emission reduction targets.


Confidentiality
Suppliers to JBT that have access to JBT confidential information must adhere to any non-disclosure obligations to which they have agreed. JBT considers the following non-exclusive categories of information to be confidential:

  • Engineering and technical designs and product specifications
  • The identity of JBT’s customers and suppliers
  • Production and supply costs
  • JBT’s technologies and processes

If a supplier to JBT becomes aware of an actual or possible unauthorized disclosure of JBT confidential information, it must be reported immediately to JBT.


Conflict Minerals
Suppliers must comply with JBT’s Conflict Minerals Policy, ensuring traceability and due diligence in their supply chains regarding tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold (referred to as 3TG).


Reporting of Violations
All conflicts of interests or violations of this Policy observed must be reported so that appropriate action can be taken.  In order to do that, please report any violations to JBT manager or representative, our Human Resources Department by calling 1-800-461-9330 which is toll-free, confidential, anonymous and available 24/7 or online at http://www.jbthotline.com. Audits and Assessments
JBT reserves the right to audit suppliers, and where possible/practical to supplier’s subcontractors, for compliance with this policy, with corrective actions required for any violations identified. Failure to address violations might impact the continuity of the business relationship with JBT.
